You might think that Testament have achieved everything after 40 years. But if Chuck Billy has his way, there is one thing at the top of their bucket list.
Testament: Chuck Billy wants to tour with Metallica
As a band, Testament is just two years younger than Metallica . Both bands also operate in the same genre. It is all the more surprising that they have never toured together in four decades. Testament frontman Chuck Billy agrees . In an interview with Andrew McKaysmith of Scars And Guitars, Billy was recently asked whether he and his band still have ambitions and goals - and if so, what they are."At the top of my checklist is the opportunity to tour with Metallica - a band that grew up in our scene, our area, and paved the way for this kind of music. We've never had the opportunity to tour with them. We've maybe played a few shows and festivals over time, but we've never been able to tour together ," the singer replies.
What would Hetfield do?
He explains: "I always look up to James as a singer and his style when I write music. To this day, my question is: 'What would James do on this song? What would he do?' That's why they are a huge inspiration to me. I'm glad that they are moving forward, investing time and not giving up even after so many years."He also believes that it is a question of age as to what kind of music you feel connected to. When McKaysmith notes that he prefers Testement to Metallica, Chuck Billy says: "Well, it depends on how old you are. I have a connection because I know what they started with and what they've become." Accordingly, Metallica are "a supernova" that cannot be stopped. He also praises James Hetfield and co. for having "the courage to play the music they want to play - no matter what anyone says about it ," even though it is not necessary from a financial point of view.
